CACTUS and COLORS

This post has been long over due as I was waiting for my friend to send over the pictures to me.

So this was a gift for Cactus, a company which is very close to my heart because I started my career there and also because I met my husband there 🙂

So this is a quilled typography of the brand logo which I decided to gift them at their annual party. Here I have used the company logo and used the colors of the 6 values (integrity, excellence, trust, fun, communication and innovation) to create the design. The idea was to show how the six values are an integral part of Cactus culture.

Tulips all the way!

My entry for the Welcome Spring – Handmade Floral Creations Contest by Creative Box.

I looked at this opportunity to quill some more 😉 I can never ever get tired of quilling 🙂

So this is what I did. I hand drew the tulips and then, painted them. (This is the 1st time I have painted my sketch before quilling) and I’m happy with the result. Post that I started using strips of paper to give the entire bloom a shading effect.

This is how it looked after the first flower was completed.

After finishing the flowers, leaves and stems, I thought of adding another twist to the creation. I spray painted the entire creation in hues of red, pink and green to give it a colorful effect.

This is how the piece looked before spray painting:

This is now on its way to get framed. What do you think about this creation?

Let me know 🙂

Thanks for dropping by my blog.

Love you Owlways!

This is my first ever entry for a card making contest. And I’m super excited! 🙂

I’m new to card making and hence the only thing I had at home were some card stock, water colors and patterned paper and oh yes, loads of quilling strips. Basis the limited card making things I had, I decided to make a quilled card.

I made this card for my husband dear. There is a story behind this card though. We both are night owls and are really smart (at least we think that way ;)) so when I thought of making a card for him, all I could think of were owls. Hence, I used quilling and some painting to make this card.

So here is my entry for the Challenge #25 – Oh So LOVE-ly! and Challenge #30- Celebrate Love

I have tried to add some fine details to the design by adding a cute flower on the female owl (that’s me) and a bow tie on the male owl (my husband). I have used ear buds to paint the heart by dabbing paint on it.

Here you could check the close-up o the card

I gave this card to him today i.e. on Valentine’s day. Btw, he seems to be very happy with the result.

Hope you all like it too 🙂

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over it became a butterfly

Butterflies have always inspired , delighted and astonished me. A sign of change, beauty and freedom. I just love them!

So when we moved into our new house I decided to have at least one wall-art dedicated to them. I came across many options online (paintings, decals, etc) but none of them made me go ‘WOW’! Hence I decided to do something myself. I saw some online reference and sketched the entire butterfly and decided to quill it. Post that was the mammoth task of mixing and matching colors. This entire piece took me around 20-25 hours to complete. It was exhausting, but am finally happy with the outcome.

Here are the pics! 🙂 Do let me know if you liked it.

Thanks for stopping by!

My first post on the blog…and saying that am excited would be an understatement. I used to blog earlier then lost interest and deleted my account. However, I decided to come back again to showcase my work, to engage with fellow crafters and to encourage crafting as a hobby to people.

So here I proudly present my latest quilling project -> DURGA

The invincible. Being a Bengali, she has been an integral part of my life. When I decided to do a series on India Gods/Goddesses she was the first to come to my mind.  I thought of her as she not only signifies power, but she also stands for victory of good over evil. A battle which we women are fighting every day…the fight to win, the fight to prove ourselves, the fight to be heard and the list goes on. Her presence gives me immense strength and hope and hence I decided to start the blog with a project on her.

About the project; Earlier, I had kept the eyes blank. See the image below. But basis the feedback I received from a lot of friends and fellow quillers, I gave her quilled and pearl eyes.

The coloring, embellishing and some quilling away from completion.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Do share your comments, suggestions, feedback with me, would love to hear from you.

Have a super creative day ahead!
